This award is presented on an annual basis to a Belle River Minor Hockey Coach who represents the values, goals and philosophy of Belle River Minor Hockey. This person will demonstrate leadership of not only children but also the adults of the game, be it parents, co-coaches, or officials. Children come into hockey at the beginning of each season with enthusiasm and different attitudes and skill levels. Therefore our coaches, and in particular our Coach-of-the-Year, would have demonstrated patience, allowing for individual differences; he/she would be a role model on and off the ice, while motivating & encouraging the growth of hockey’s younger enthusiasts. This coach demonstrates a balanced approach between playing competitively and ensuring that all players have fun during their season.

This award is presented to a player who is honoured for his work ethic, determination and positive attitude in improving his hockey skills and abilities over the course of the year. To a player who has demonstrated extraordinary team play and spirit, both in their approach to the game and their attitude towards their teammates. It is awarded to an individual who works hard, shows dedication to their team and their teammates in all circumstances, places the interests of their team and teammates ahead of themselves, who does not complain, perseveres and relies on sportsmanship, on and off the ice, to achieve their goals.
This would be awarded to a young official who is in their first 3 years of officiating. This official demonstrates the ability to: Communicate well with players and coaches. Has a strong understanding of the rules. Understands proper position and use of the cone. Displays leadership qualities and mentors other young officials. Officiates BRDMHA house league games and tournaments
This award in particular is given to volunteers, players, or teams who has displayed a commitment to our community, someone who works tirelessly in whatever role or aspect of the BRDMHA community. Examples of this could be a referee or linesman, Timekeeper, a fundraiser, a coach or manager that goes the extra mile, an arena employee, or a Board member who puts in endless hours for the better good of our Association. These are but a few examples of the type of person that would be given this award.
The Program is presented to two individuals in recognition of outstanding contributions to Belle River District Minor Hockey in the following areas: These are given to Coaches, Trainers, Referees, or an Executive/Administrator who: • Abide by and promote the organization’s Rules & Codes of Conduct. • Advocate the community values of fair play, safety, sportsmanship, skill development, participation, and spirit of the game of hockey. • Have made an extraordinary contribution to amateur hockey that is deserving of special recognition
This award is presented to a U9 travel player who demands the best of themselves and others, contributes with skills, leads with spirit, applauds effort, champions fairness, evokes dedication, inspires pride, and deserves imitation.
Years of service awards or service awards celebrate the tenure of volunteers who have worked with BRDMHA for a considerable amount of time.
