Reclassification Update
Good afternoon BRDMHA Members,

As most of you know, BRDMHA submitted a request with the guidance of OMHA to reclassify from AA to A.  The OMHA held its meeting on Saturday April 29 and the motion was approved for BRDMHA and Kent to move to Single A category.  We believe this is the right decision for the future of BRDMHA and the Bluewater League.  Our goal is to put our teams in position to be able to compete when traveling into GTA area's.  We now feel teams will enter tournaments within Ontario and be able to compete in these tournaments and not have to always look to the USA for good competitive hockey.

We understand that this change was very abrupt but we felt it was necessary and was an oppotunity for us to follow in the same steps as Tecumseh and Windsor.

Our league will not change.  We will have a balanced season schedule with an exciting playoff season.

Lasalle will remain the only AA centre within Bluewater.  Lasalle will continue to play in our BWL but will have to participate in the closest AA league through playdowns/playoffs in order to qualify for OMHA championships.  These teams will all be traveling to areas such as Oakville, Orangeville, Milton, Niagara Falls to name a few in February and March.

FAQ

What does this mean for Non Resident Players (NRP)?

Belle River like any other centre in the league is only permitted to provide NRP authorizations for players going to Lasalle (AA) now.  We BRDMHA are also now only permitted to accept players from a higher base category that have been released or a lower base category.  With the maximum allowable for any team being three (3) signed players.  Who are also expected to be top players on their team.

Furthermore, our second entry teams will classified as 'C'.  These tryouts will still take place week of May 15.

All tryout schedules are posted on each teams site calendar.

Go Habs!

Regards,
