 Tournament Regulations


1. Playing rules and tournament regulations are those of the O.M.H.A.

2. All Teams must be prepared to start their game 15minutes prior to the scheduled start time.

3. A total of not more than 19 players may dress for any game, two of which must be goaltenders.

4. The Home team is listed first on the game sheet.  Home teams will wear their light coloured jerseys.   Away teams wear their dark coloured jerseys. 

5. The tournament committee reserves the right to make any and all decision regarding both the interpretation of rules and objections or protests involving disputes or conduct at the tournament.  Official protest must be submitted to the Tournament Committee within 15 minutes of the game in question. 

6. Any player who receives a major penalty for fighting WILL be suspended for the remainder of the tournament.  All other penalties involving suspension will follow OMHA guidelines. 

7. Points during the round robin will be awarded as follows; i. 1 point per period for the winning team (1/2 point if tied) ii. 2 points per winning the game (1 point if tied) There is a total of 5 points per game and games may end in a tie. 

8. In case of a tie in points at the end of round robin, the winner will be decided by; i. The team winning the game between the tied teams ii. If still tied, goals for minus goals against will be used iii. If still tied, goals for average will apply iv. If still tied, goals against average will apply v. If still tied, a flip of the coin will decide the winner 

9. In the Semi-Finals and Championship game, if the game is tied after regulation, a 5 minute, four-on-four stop time sudden death will occur.  If still tied, a 3 player shootout will decide the winner.  The home team will shoot first.  If still tied, single shootouts will decide the outcome.  No Player can shoot a second time until every player on the team with the fewest players on the game roster has taken their first shot.  At this point the coach of the team with more players can, if he or she chooses, begin repeating players.  Any player penalized in regulation time will continue to serve their penalty in the overtime period. 

10. In the Semi-Finals and Championship games, each team will receive one thirty second time out.  There are no time outs in round robin. 

11. Running time will commence in the 3rd period if there is a 5 goal differential.  This rule does not apply to Championship games.  When the goal differential goes back to 4 the clock will go back to stop time. 

12. All decisions by the Tournament Committee shall be final and without appeal.
