Big Bear Tournament Champions
The Tournament Weekend that might not of happened.   During the past week it was pretty eventful as these Major Atom boys were ready to get to Cleveland and play some tournament hockey.  However at the last minute Our division was cancelled and had our coaches/managers looking for alternatives for the boys.   By the graciousness of the Tournament director at Big Bear the boys went over to Chelsea Michigan to represent Belle River Minor Hockey in the their Tournament.

Game Recaps

Belle River Jr. Canadiens vs Windsor Jr. Spitfires.
The boys went into game one pretty pumped up as they would be facing their hometown rivals, The Windsor Jr. Spitfires.  The Jr. Canadians got on the board early and continued creating a lot of pressure on the Jr. Spitfires.  Jr. Canadiens win this game 5-2.

Up next at prime time back in Chelsea

Belle River Jr. Canadiens vs Wolf Pack
We had unfamiliar team to face from the Chicago area.   Huffington Wolf Park.   They were a very competitive team and the boys had themselves with their backs up against the wall being down 2-1 with little time left on the clock.  The coaches pulled the goalie to get the extra attacker on the ice and we kept the pressure  in their end.   With seconds left on the clock the Jr. Canadiens put in the net to tie the game at 2.    Tie Game 2-2

Its a new Day and prepping to get the championship Game.

Belle River Jr. Canadiens vs Markham Waxers 05AA
The game started and we had the Waxers scrambling from the very beginning.   We put six goals past their tender in the first period.   Knowing we had to score a goals in bunches and not wanting to demoralize our opponent the coaches mixed up the lines and put many players who play defense regularly onto forward and vice versa.   The Jr. Canadiens continued with the pressure in their opponents zone most of the game and capped the game off with a 10-0 victory.

Livingston Lightning vs Belle River Jr. Canadiens.
After a late lunch/snack the boys had to bring their A game to come out against the other top team in the pool. The canadiens got onto the board quickly and got up 2-1 for a good part of the game.  The Lightning team came back strong in the final period and put one past our Goalie after a scramble in front of the net which tied the game up 2-2 with only a few minutes left in the game.    The boys came on strong in the last few minutes and took many shots on the tender who made some amazing saves to keep the game tied.    The boys finished on top of the table and make it to the finals.

FINALS

Belle River Jr. Canadiens vs Livingston Lightning

This game got off with the Lightning putting one behind our goaltender earlier.  The boys kept their composure and battled away and evened it up quickly. With us creating all the pressure in our opponents end it was only within time we would put another past them in which we did with some great passing down low.  During the second period our goalie was making some big saves to keep our opponent away.  Their goalie was really strong down low and you could see the boys have started to figure that out and started lifting the puck which turned to be successful as we put another in the net.   Score is now 3-1.  The lightning team was reslient and not backing down to put another behind our goalie.   We seemed to get in a little penalty trouble in the last half of the game and were successful in keeping the puck out of end to finish the game with a Final 3-2

The boys worked hard every shift this tournament and had some tough games where they shown that hard work wins games. Congrats boys.
